Banyan Tree Al Wadi offers three different villas, all with private pools. Al Rimal is the cheapest category. These rooms are spacious and have an amazing bathroom with a tub, but the outside deck has limited space and you don’t have sun all day. We recommend the Al Khaimah villas, that are one of the best hotel rooms we have stayed in to date. For our enjoyment there are 253 square meters decorated in traditional Bedouin style, a huge bathroom with the Banyan Tree's signature tub as well as a private deck with a massive pool and lounge chairs. There is no better place to enjoy the desert sunset with a glass of cold bubbles. Ask for a villa that faces west, for the best sun conditions. The resort's most expensive rooms are the Al Sahari villas. They are the same size as the Al Khaimah but have more space between the villas. The difference is not really necessary, so we recommend that you book the Al Khaimah rooms.
Amazing villas, surroundings and food
There are two restaurants at the resort. Banyan Tree's signature restaurant is Saffran, which overlooks an idyllic oasis. Here you can enjoy high-end Thai cuisine while gazelles drench their thirst a few yards away. The other restaurant is Al Waha and offers a more international cuisine. Breakfast is also served here; eggs, pancakes and an excellent buffet. After your dinner at the Saffran or Al Waha you can retreat to the roof of the Moon Bar and enjoy the desert night with a Cuban cigar and a Zacapa Rum. The resort has a nice wine menu, but as usual for the UAE - prices are as stiff as the drinks. Your best choices are probably new world wines if you look at cost versus quality. If you really want a special evening, book the Al Wadi tower. Dine high above the sand dunes and enjoy the panoramic views.
Banyan Tree are well known for their Spa and Al Wadi is no exception. With a huge spa area - there is a large menu of treatments, a hammam, pool and sauna. It’s recommended that you book your treatments well in advance as the spa is very popular, especially during weekends. Next to the spa you will find the hotel gym with a decent offering of cardiovascular equipment, free weights and a yoga room with classes every morning. For the best workout however, for for a morning run on the pathways around the property when the desert awakens for a new day.
The Al Wadi resort has a staff of around 300, serving only 100 rooms. It goes without saying that the service is quite remarkable. You will feel pampered from the moment you set foot in the reception, until the moment you reluctantly check out.
